My latest review here is of Flyleaf’s Debut self-titled album, and it caught me by surprise. I can’t believe this album has been out since 2005, and even more I can’t believe I never heard them prior to the remix of “I’m So Sick” from the Resident Evil Extinction OST. Well I picked up this album after hearing that very remix and seeing some music videos of theirs. So after purchasing this CD while in California, and listening to it many times since then, I was in awe, as this album is amazing! Their style is alternative rock and as they’ve been labeled by some as Christian Rock, this is not exactly the case. They definitely have their Christian views influencing this CD, but I wouldn’t say it is what the album is all about. From the first track of “I’m So Sick” to the final song, “So I Thought”, it is an absolute treat with not even so much of a hiccup of even a mediocre track. You can feel the emotion, passion and intensity that the band and lead singer, Lacey Mosley, infused on every track, and never leaves you feeling something is missing. I kept looking for that something negative to say, as I was in disbelief that I was about post this 5 star review. You really have to check this album out, as I am assuring you will nto be disappointed. I can see why 2 years after initial release, they re-released this in a CD/DVD package, and it is still creating new fans such as myself. It definitely is an album that wil lstand the test of time and still be something worth listening to years down the road. If you do go purchase this album, get the version with the DVD, as it contains some great acoustic performances.
Final Verdict: ★★★★★ CLASSIC!! *MUST BUY*
